The Planet Mars

Several underground streams.

Early in time Mars was much like earth. It had lakes and streams above the surface and we think quite possibly oceans. But now mars just has frozen ice caps and underground frozen rivers. Mars?s surface is very old and has many craters. However other than earth mars has the most interesting terrain out of all the planets in the solar system.

Mars?s temperature varies quite a lot. But its average temperature is around ?55C. The sky varies a lot also. One week it could be pink and cloudless another it could be filled with wind blown dust in about a week the dust would clear up and the temperature would plummet 40 degrees and ice clouds would form in the sky.

Canyons on Mars

Mars has a very thin atmosphere and the very little carbon dioxide the atmosphere is made of is what makes it so thin. The first spacecraft to land on mars was mariner 4. There was also others like mars 2 and Viking. Vikings mission was to take tests to determine if there was life on mars. But they could not find such proof. The latest craft to land on mars was the mars pathfinder witch successfully landed July 4 1997.
